    clutch issues

    Does the clutch work fine in the forward gears? If so, then I wouldn't think it is a clutch adjustment issue. Does it just "drag" in reverse, or does it go into full-on backup boogie?

    My Warrior has found its way to a new home. I passed on the airhead KDX trade, but it's almost too nice to leave. It went to a good home that I visit often while at work. The owner's pretty picky, and I'm sure it wont get thrashed. :tup: I'll be on the lookout for another, after I get back up...

    Careful not to break it off in any of the passages. Don't go too far into the accel pump passage (it runs through the bottom of the fuel bowl) or you'll be hatin' life. My carb had zero green/yellow/white pond scum in it, yet somehow both passages got funk in them from sitting. Good luck.

    X2 on the lean. Gotta run a small wire through the ENTIRE accel pump circuit, remove the pilot jet and do the same too. Remove the mixture screw and clean the pilot circuit in the carb body while it's out. Must be spotless inside the passages. Just hosing it out with a can of cleaner won't do...

    Huge Backfire???

    It's the unburned fuel that collects in the pipe from the cranking, catching a spark and lighting off. Probably a timing issue as 01 said. Does it have good compression (bent valve)? Plugged pilot jet or accelerator pump circuit in the carb? Bad spark plug, wire, cap or coil?

    Sure is a small world, eh?? :) I lived in the South about 20 years ago. Big dummy me moved back... Yup, that's the KDX I'm really after, Gnarly pipe and all. Had a stock '90 long ago and loved it. Suited my needs just fine.

    Never saw that thing before. It's either a Knutsen Valve Tube-u-lator or a piece from a Mr. Fusion... Or maybe a wastegate tuner?

    I dunno man. That's a painful read. I can't figure out what parts he put in new, and what parts are used. But I'll try. Best advice to 38 would be to be sure you assembled the clutch in EXACTLY the way it shows, with all of the parts shown in an exploded diagram like this one...

    Buy the proper, complete, top end kit. Period. There are o-rings and other shizz in there too. You can get away with reusing solid copper head gaskets (ie. on a 2 stroke) but why risk it on anything else?
