My brother got his 04' for $1100. It had a few minor issues, but was ride ready. Hell, he's dumped a metric shitton into it now, and it is one fast quad. Other than that, they are averaging $2500-$3500 here.

I'd pull your caliper off, and clean it out very good. Pull your banjo fitting and see if fluid is coming out. Then, with the brake line off, pump your brakes, see if it is pressurizing the line. You could have a bad master cylinder.
