    Shock Covers, yay or nay?

What I figured. Sand will always find a way to get in.

    Shock Covers, yay or nay?

So, I have been looking at shock covers, but I'm not sure if I really need them. Most of my riding is in the trails, with some mud. Only reason I have thought about it, is the trip to the dunes. I'm not really wanting to re-build shocks anytime soon, but I'm not fully convinced on their...

    Direct shifter Mod...OH Yeah!

I have sz10 work boots boots, and have it just below mid-line on the Stator. For me it's right across the top of my toes(just below the nails). I feel it's about perfect. Once my new riding boots come in, I may have to make an adjustment, but not for sure.

    Direct shifter Mod...OH Yeah!

Upside is, I guess I have a factory shifter for sale or trade. ;) Not on this forum tho. I'd never be able to get rid of it.

    Direct shifter Mod...OH Yeah!

So, After reading all the threads on it, and growing to despise the shifter set up(especially with Nerf Bars), I decided to buy the MSR YZ shifter. All I can say is... WTF Yamaha, why in the hell were you using the Cup and Ball all these years? I took it around the property and went for neutral...

    Got my new cdi!

WOW boss!!! I'd be ticked as well. Your argument was clear. Hers was about as textbook as it gets. She's definitely reading from a script.

No spark, is it the stator?

It's a toss up, if your stator is too far gone, nothing you do will generate spark. In the same regard, bump starting it causes the motor to spin faster, allowing it to generate more spark(if the stator has any life left). Personally, I'd try to triple check the stator. It really isn't too...

No spark, is it the stator?

The rectifier transforms high voltage AC power to low voltage DC power. The regulator maintains 12-14 vdc. THe only thing your testing for in the Cdi is: - shorts to ground - shorts across terminals All could result in lost spark.

    Chain and sprocket combo questions.

it looks like front divided by rear, multiplied by tire height, OR Tire height divided by rear sprocket multiplied by front sprocket, is how the drive ratio is figured. On my setup it is equal to 6.9 (13/40x21). Doing the math that way, all the ratios in the chart are accurate

How does your rear tires figure into it then?

    Chain and sprocket combo questions.

Because I need to know, does anybody have the formula handy, for figuring out the ratio?

    Got my new cdi!

What stator are you running? was your "new" CDI sold "as new"? If so, I'd ask for a refund. If not I'd call the seller out. CDI Is your brains. Without it there is no funtime. Me, I'd be pissed!

Making plans for "Little Sahara" 05may11 to 08may11

Well, my brother and I (as well as 10 or so other people) Are heading to Wynoka on the 5th of May thru Sunday the 08th of may11. I know the short list of toys will be: - a BAD ASS Long Travel 4 seat buggy, powered by a 5.3vortec(IIRC It was Darryl or Mike Waltrip's) - 700r - LTZ400 - 450r -...

No spark, is it the stator?

You will only get a Peak reading, with out the motor spinning under power. That reading is the magnets passing the contact(s). Ohm out you coil, it should read OFL(open) The CDI is a little trickier, How many pins are in the plug end(i'd look at mine, but I'm not near it). Also try unplugging...

No spark, is it the stator?

Stators, when running right should throw out 100+ V between the wires, (one of my motorcycles throws 125+v) which runs up to the regulator/rectifier to charge the battery and run the lights. IIRC, (it's this way on my 2 little Chinese ones) Your stator also sends out a "pulse timer" which is a...

    Fuse keeps blowing

You could cheat, and shut it off in the dark. Tape of the fuse so you can't see it, and look for a possible spark. I deal with electricity day in and day out, and I flat HATE looking for shorts. You could also unplug different circuits one at a time, and rule it out that way as well.

    Chain and sprocket combo questions.

I just decided to run with the Stock 13/40 setup. With 21" tires I'll keep my torque where it's at. I haven't even checked to see where I'm at now, but as chewed up as the F.S. is, anything will be an improvement!
