Why not get another eye connector and solder it on the old cable. Got to cost all of $2.00.

Sounds like time is an issue, but I gota pair off ebay for $8.00 with shipping. They are posted on there all the time. Blaster and Banshee wii also fit. They are all the same. Good luck...
