yeah i agree. if the cam is off, the valves could be open when the piston is at tdc. this could cause the piston to hit, bend or even brake a valve.

if you want to check if there is a switch problem find the black wire with the white stripe on the cdi box. take a paperclip or something small and take this wire out of the plug and then plug the connector back into the cdi box. you can simply cut this wire (not Recommended) and spice it back...
