anybody found any blue paint at like an auto parts store that is close to yamaha blue? i am looking for like a high temp or something, to paint my frame, I am doing a blue//black/white theme

It shouldn't be too hard to find some paint at advance auto or one of those places that will come close to yamaha blue. There really wouldn't be any reason to use high temp paint, regular paint will hold up fine to the temeratures the frame normally sees. A metallic paint would look real nice on the frame. The hood stripes I put on my van are Duplicolor Intense Blue Pearl, which would be a sweet color for a frame. It's a cool looking paint because it really changes tones as you look at it from different angles. From one angle it may look dark blue depending on how the light hits it, and then with different light it'll be a real bright glowing blue. Stuff's expensive though, about $6 a can and you'll need a bunch of it to get a frame fully coated. If you don't like that color they still have like 12 other shades of blue most places.

Either way, don't expect painting your frame to last forever. The only way for it to really hold up is to get it powdercoated. If you do spray bomb it, make sure you really lay on the clearcoat to keep the paint from getting chipped and rubbed off.

i have a regular spray gun, would this be better? also how much should powder coating cost

For a frame? Way more than its ever going to be worth. Sure its stronger than regular old rattle cans. But it will chip and fade just the same. Honestly for a good long lasting finish i would go with a spray gun applied base coat clear. With lots of extra clear it will be very very strong. And if you buy it by the quart ( way more than enough for a frame) its not too bad.. like40 bucks or so depending on the color.

Powder coating will not chip or wear for many years if the proper prep work is done. Most people only sand the surface and wonder why it flakes off in a year. The white pc on my warrior is going 11 years this year and still looks the same as it did the day it was done. JMO
