Anyone got some good tips on cleaning the motor back up? I have used lots of different degreasers and nothing seems to do that great of a job.

I have a dremel but not sure how to approach the metal on the engine. I have done lots of polishing and such but never really had to clean something up this bad.

Thanks

I use lots of Simple Green MAX and let it soak for a while, then just spray off. Usually works great, for stubborn dirt and oil I use a plastic brush while soaking it.

Ive tried simple green which does a great job on the plastics and other stuff, but my motor is older and has really stubborn stains.

I figured this one out on accident...i was trying to clean my engine one day and it was taking for ever and when i was cleaning up for the day i accidentaly got some gas on it some out and i was too lazy to clean it up. Well the next day i touched that spot with a rag and everything just wiped right off like nothing. I also found out oil does the same thing except you cant really get off the engine once you get it on, that wasnt on accident i was just trying it.

Gasoline does work, even try varsol

I've herd from the people of at yfz central that WD40 is the best thing ever. I'm not sure about washing the engine, but i know to put that on your engine before you put your engine thougha ny ind of mud andthe dirt will not bake to it.

Thats what i use. Whole can of 50cent nonstick cooking spray. Works good kinda.

Gotta be careful with gasoline. Make sure your in a well ventalated area; like outside. I had a buddy who was cleaning on a bicycle with gasoline, and a spark occured. He got some pretty nasty burns, and ruined the paint job on his dad's vette.
Remeber; liquid gas is not explosive, but the vapors are.
