looking through the small hole at the bottom you will see a F and a T you want it on a compression stroke and line the T up, the line on the cam gear should line up with a notch on the top.

thanks.? but isnt it lined up already.. in the video you can see its on the T and the line on the cam gear is down facing the t. but i was asking how to take the top end off?

roll the crank over one more rotation that will put the cam lined up with its timing mark.

so what are you trying to do? a full top end rebuild?

the truth? i have NO clue :( i just want this bike to work again, i traded my done up acura integra for this damn thing i drove 4 fukin times!! (what was a nice damn car). it was working fine one day and i was on my way home. then the bike just ups and dies. i try to start it again and all it did was spin? i then asked around and ppl said ill need a starter clutch, and then when i made a video of the cover off and what it was doing.. ppl said the starter clutch was fine as the flywheel spins also. then i was told to put my finger over the sparkplug hole (so i did). to feel for compression? but nothing happen. so people started saying i need new piston and rings???. and then now someone is saying that my timing may be off what is why it doesnt wanna start...

soo i have no clue what to do! fml

ok so i just did the timing and now everything is lined up were its supposed to be. and still doing the same thing so i guess thats not the problem?? so now i am really starting to think the piston and rings?? i know a day after i got this bike i went to start it up and it smoked like crazy but then it started so i didnt think nothing of it

So all the timing marks are where they are supposed to be now?

yup its all lined up. but it didnt make a different so i guess that wasnt the problem, so i have it right apart now to the piston.. but i am not sure what to look for or if its still in good shape, all i know is it smells alot haha

may not be your piston, if you adjusted the timing, means it could be your valves.

as far as the piston does it move side to side while in the jug and how does the cylinder wall look like

Wait, you said you have NO compression? You just did a finger test. Have you put a compression tester on it yet?

I wouldn't tear into the engine if its fine one day and bad the next then take what people on youtube have to say as gold. Good thing you finally found this site!
