Just put a new ring set in my engine and had mark off the timing. Put it back together but now it sounds liek the valve is hitting the piston. Does anyone have a picture or instructions of how to adjust timing so I can fix this. I just pulled the motor twice to pull it out again would piss me off so preferebly to do this on the bike would be great.

Problem = tapping , and no compression/start

Work done = Re ring and put back together

Need assistance ASAP. Thanks Mike

Timing is pretty easy, with the engine at TDC, the cam sprocket line should be even with the cast indicator in the cylinder head and also remove the timing hole plug on the stator cover and align the flywheel notch "T" with the notch on the crankcase. That should get it. Then wiggle the rocker arms, if they are tight then you are on the exhaust stroke and you need to rotate the flywheel 360 degrees and then they should wiggle, then you are good to go.

well I have a bent valve and this happened trying to start it out of time, I noticed to late, so I am getting new valves, now I need help getting the old ones out IT seems something is holding the rocker in.

I couldnt move the rockers either... you have to get the valves out using a compression tool with the rockers in head. I used a c-clamp and open ended wrench to get mine out.
