I got the hood and the side panels painted black. What should i do with the rest of the body? Im thinking of either doing a custom race cut plastic more less taking all the front plastic fenders off. Or paint a black line down the gas tank and back to the back then doing an orange body? Do ya'll think that would look good. Im pretty good at the rattle can deal and the black plastic looks like after market plastic. So lets hear your ideas.

Thanks FRN

Put some pics up and let us see what we're working with. I'd say got with a race cut front/back fenders.

Umm i cant realy get pics up the paint needs to dry for a couple more house before i want to mess with it... meh ill get pics up in a bit.

its friggin looking good now, i painted the front end up (black) still with the blue fenders but its looking sweet. Ill have pics up soon.

looks good man. did you use any sort of adhesion promoter before you painted? what kind of paint did you use? im just thinking that it may crack or peel if you dont use an adhesion promoter since the plastics flex. i thought about doing some painting but didnt since i ride trails and it would start cracking and scraping off after a few rides. let us know how it holds up. good job for rattle can!

Actually this stuff dose not crack or flake. I painted the pod first to see how good it holds up and i can bend the pod so the plastic starts to turn white before the paint flakes. Ive also hit it pretty hard with a screw driver and nothing happened.

What i did was clean the body real good. Did a dry sand with emry paper put a few coats on it. Tomorrow im going to do a wet sand over the paint with emry paper and then try to find a clear coat that flexes alot.

right on. so what kind of paint was it? was it the krylon fusion stuff? i guess that stuff is supposed to be good for plastic but i have never tried it. keep us posted

Okay, we got it YELLOW and Black. Yes it is the krylon fusion stuff. Looking good will have final pics up in a couple days.

right on. YELLOW and BLACK?!?! you gonna put a stinger on it and go as a bumble bee for halloween?!?! lol just kidding man. i bet that will look sweet. get some pics up as you go through the process. maybe you can make a tutorial on it for other members.

Ill post pics up when its finished. I have to re paint the front end because the friggin neighbors were cutting there grass when i was painting it now ive got grass under a couple layers of paint so i got to do that. The back i just need to touch up a couple spots and do the under side.

Does anyone know if i can get a plastic clear coat or what clear coat would work the best.

Yeh what should i name her? Here is what my friend and i have came up with. "killer bee" "bitchin' bee" "stinger bee" "queen bee"

Okay i took all the tape off it, The paint has been dry for 2 days on the back plastic. Took it off and it pulled off a big chunk of black paint. So i was pretty pissed at my friend because that is the spot he tapped off. So im not letting him do it anymore. But i was so pissed i had to go for a ride. Only plastic that was on was the back. No exhaust only the header, just the air box and filter no lid. And holy crap that thing is loud with only the header on. Went for a lil rip down the road and that thing hurt my ear drums! But will running no exhaust hurt anything?

Okay just got back from wal-mart/ home depot. I got more paint and a clear coat, some sanding paper 400 grit and some 200 grit and some plastic filler. Sanded down the plastic put the putty in now its drying. So im going to do a dry sand with the 200 grit and then make it nice with the 400 grit. Oh i also did another wet sand with the 400 grit paper on the hood and man every coat makes it look alot better!

You're lucky, it seems like Krylon Fusion didn't work so well for me. It rubbed off on the contact points between fenders after a few rides, but it's still holding up from woods riding. I didn't spend as much time as you though, I just wanted a quick paintjob to replace a peeling paintjob.

Yeh it seems when it hasn't dried for more then a hour anything will rub it off. I put the front piece on and a cable was hanging down and i turned the bars and it took a chunk off.
