Somewhare I read u can remove the base gasket? Would I still use the o ring? I just need more general info and what about removing one of the 3 shims that make up a head to jug gasket?

Yes you need the o-ring. That is what seals the oil passageway. Without it, it will leak oil, have poor oil pressure to the top end, and will starve valve train of oil.

so since i am running a stock cam if i remove the base gasket to bump compression up i should be fine??

The base gasket is pretty thin. I haven't measured it, but I doubt that you would get any improvement in compression.

The "Trick" of removing the base gasket, typically works well on small displacement 2 stroke motors, though.
