I can't decide whether to keep my z400, or Move on to a 205r. The 250r is my all time favorite bike, and I found one locally for 1800 bucks andf in GREAT condition. I'm gonna be using this for motocross, So I'm not sure how reliable it will be, how often I have to change the piston, that kinda stuff. Anyone have some background with those bikes?

Well klutch depends on how much money you have to put into the r. Stock they handle better than anything imo. My bro has one and the handling is nuts. The power is good but just a piped 250r is'nt nothing to get excited about. What all is done to it? Also if the guy has done regular maintanence you dont have to worry about rebuilding it as much as people say you do. If it starts losing compression just put a new set of rings in it and then it will be fine for a long time, dont have to replace the piston everytime it starts to lose compression. Also I'd ride it if at all possible, if you have never rode a 2 stroke before it will be hard to get use to going from a 4 stroke.

Yeh i rod my friends KX 85 bike and you have to be holding on when that power bands hits. I was in third gear when i found the power bang and the front end got up alot more then i wanted it to.

get the 250r and keep the Z
Moneys an issue, two toys is more then enough, no room for a 3rd.

The quad is all stock except for tires, and plastics. My z is pretty outdated when it comes to mx upgrades, but it's still alot better then stock. I would probably be paying what I bought the grey one for if I wanted to make the 250r equal to my z400, adding to the 1800 I'm gonna pay for it. The closest I've ever came to a 2 stroke is a blaster, and that seemed fun. I rode a decked out 250r once on the track and I could throw that sum bitch side ways whenever I want. The handling was insane. It's just really tempting...

If it's all stock and in good shape, then IMO thats a steal. Motor mods are not that crazy unless you start going up to 300cc. High compression piston, some porting+ reeds, and a cool head, a good pipe and the hit will be awsome. I rode my boys ATC250R, and thats what he had done, it was crazy. Your suspention is fine unless you want it wider. Thats all I'll say I'd do it.

If youg get a 250r get a stroker for it, my friend put one on his and it can beat out a banshee, Its freaking insane. You feal like your going to die if you gun it.

Or you could just get an athena 435 big bore, good set of cams and you'd be more than happy with the power.

Dave- its bone stock, just with tires and plastics, everything is original Honda. Hell the handlebars are even stock. But remember I like to go big, and I doubt those stock shocks can handle it.

It has the essentials to say the least lol.
I'm gonna ask for a test ride, extended test ride lol. I wanna make sure the power I'm getting out of that stock engine is more then my Z.
