Hey guys, first post on the site but I've been a reader for a long time! I picked up a 96 Warrior a few weeks ago for a good deal with a fried harness. There is no way I can rebuil it and I cant trouble shoot anything else until I have it fixed.

Now since 96 is 1 year only for electronics the harness is discontinued... that leaves me with A) finding a used harness or B) building my own

I've spent a couple weeks trying to track down a used harness for it and haven't had any luck. I was wondering about putting a 97 Harness on it???

I know the CDI is different on the 97+ but I have no idea what else???
This quad hasn't ran in years so I have no idea if my old CDI is good or what else is wrong electronically so I don't mind replacing it.

Does anyone know what is different on the 97-01 vs my 96???

Swapping over to the 97+ harness is a good idea, and will be easier than making your own. However, you will need several parts off of the 97+ bike. To get started, you will need the stator, flywheel, CDI, harness (obviously). Other than that, there could be some small connectors that are different. Hopefully, someone else will chime in to give you a definite list.

Awesome! Thank you very much. I agree that this route will be easier then trying to build one. I just had no idea what hard parts were different and searching didn't give me an answer

I have a Clymer manual so I should be able to rebuild any connectors that are different. This harness is just so fucked up I can't repair it or trouble shoot anything else with it

CDI & harness are definietly different but 96 & 97 show the same stator and flywheel

You might get lucky and it work then. I know for using most cross year motor/harness combo's you have to change the stator and CDI.
