    popping in the carb

you definatly have it running lean. if it makes a kinda chirping noise when it pops then your carb boot is probably split which will lean out the fuel mixture pretty bad.

    smoking and burning oil

i know the rings are good because the jug was bored to a .5mm over wiseco piston and honed(professionally done) and the rings were gapped to spec. i also know that the cylinder is in good condition as i had the whole topend off two weeks ago when i swapped out the bottom end to get a new...

    smoking and burning oil

so about 6months ago i rebuilt the topend of my 98 warrior and went through the head and replaced the valve seals and lapped the valves as well. Not 2 rides into the new motor and it started smoking on startup but would go away as soon as the motor was up to temp. today it got really bad...

R&R Lower steering stem bearing & seals.

good writeup. one thing though, when you drive in the new bearing you shouldnt drive it in from the inner race. ball bearings arent designed to take side loads and the balls can crack and cause the bearing to wear out really fast. this isnt really a high stress bearing but its always good...

    GSXR 750 Warrior

wouldnt say i know him but i bought the original '88 engine from that bike from him last week. talked with the guy for like an hour when i was there about his toys. he also had a raptor 660 with an R1 motor amongst other things.

    GSXR 750 Warrior

for those of you who saw my thread the other day about the 88 motor you know that the guy i bought it from had toys. well after searching around youtube i found this video and too many things are similar between what i saw at the guys house and what is in the vid. so as of now im saying this...

    Steering stem bearing help

when i did mine i found a big nut (1" i think) i had laying around and then welded a big bolt to it so i could get the breaker bar on there with a socket. definately recommend heating the collar though cause its usually really rusted in there. sucks seeing as ur gonna end up destroying the...

    My S10

the 1400 lb is the carring capacity of one tire at maximum pressure which is usually around 60-65 psi on most light duty tires. the thing you have to remember is that load rating includes the weight of your truck. so if each tire can carry 1400lb then the total capacity is 5600lb minus the...

What would you pay for a used 88 engine?

no not stacey david but cant lie if the guy had a mullet id buy it if he said he was. aparently he owns a race shop so he can do all kinds of fabwork and it looks like it was always that way. either way the guy clearly had a ton of money to burn.

What would you pay for a used 88 engine?

didnt even cross my mind. was kinda preoccupied by the guys toys. ontop of the warrior he had a raptor 660 with an R1 motor in it which he said he just finished the swap on. he also had a 2000ish ford ranger with a 5.0 stroker swap, a prostreet fox body mustang and a twin turbo 4th gen...

What would you pay for a used 88 engine?

forgot to mention that the bike the motor came out of now has a suziki gsx 750 motor in it and it was probably the cleanest swap ive ever seen. looked like it came that way from the factory

What would you pay for a used 88 engine?

i was planning on that till i showed up and saw what it was. the cases were painted and the motor was pretty much immaculate so i felt bad trying to cheap out. i ended up talking the guy down to $100 cause it was missing the stator cover, flywheel, and the exhaust valve cover with decomp lever...

    Warrior Starts in Neutral only

sounds like the clutch switch is bad. follow the wires under the hood and unplug it and then plug the two ends on the harness side together and itll eliminate the need for the switch. then itll start in any gear

What would you pay for a used 88 engine?

so the guy called me back and according to what he said the valve adjuster nut came loose and jammed between the cam and the head which sheared off the pin. The guy came down to $150 which im fairly comfortable with cause i can prob sell some of the parts and make up most of the investment...

What would you pay for a used 88 engine?

anyone else? the guys supposed to get back to me later this afternoon but im definately thinking $200 is a bit steep for that old of a motor.

What would you pay for a used 88 engine?

so as the title says what would you pay for a used 88 engine. the guy claims that the only thing wrong is the cam gear drive pin sheared off. he wants $200 for the motor. im planning on using the bottom end and swapping the cylinder, head, and flywheel and stator over from my 98 to solve my...

    My S10

im almost positive s10s never came with a ratio lower than 3.08. early models with a 2.8v6 came standard with 3.08s with the option of a 3.73 or 3.42 depending on the way it was optioned from the factory. 4.3v6 had either 3.42 or the much less common 3.73 with a govlock. 4cylinders with a...
