Do you have to run higher octane fuel with a 366 big bore kit also how does purchasing a big bore kit work o they send you a cylinder and a piston or just the piston and you get the cylinder bored?

I got a 10.5:1 and it says 91octane. 12:1 is 93 I think. They send you a piston you need to get cyl. bored and honed.

You send the piston with the cyl. As far as gas I would run what they recommend. But that's me.

i've got a 0.040 over kit and I didn't notice any difference at all over stock, and octane isn't determined by the size of the bore it's determined by compression, you can run pump gas up to about 11:1 compression, I've always ran 93 octane in everything I have just as a rule of thumb because it burns better and increases efficiency reduces stress on engine components etc. If you buy the 366 kit its offered in 2 compressions, 10.5:1 (You can still run pump gas) and 12:1 (High octane race fuel or at least a mixture of high octane and 93) check out your local auto machine shops and they'll walk you through everything needed, my local shop charged $35 to bore and hone my cylinder to match my new piston and rings kit. You will have to change your carb jetting too because you have more displacement, therefore you'll need more fuel. I've heard some say you don't need to change jetting but I don't see how that's possible

a thicker base gasket or even 2 base gaskets in between your cylinder and block will reduce compression also

the 366 kit is a good starting point to wake your motor up...with the right cam and carb the bike will be nasty
