Alright, continued from before, so we dont jack Deadlast's 426 post... (http://www.trx450rforum.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?t=10128&start=0)

The 450 atv motors, while they do rip, they are lame versions of the bike motors I hate to say. But rightfully so they are also in different applications. But trust me on this, ride a yz and a yzf for instance and you'll feel a difference. Of course before anyone knocks this, I know... one is in a bike and one is in an atv, so its apples to oranges. But I can tell you that the atv motor is more tame. Yes they can wake up and be made to that of the bike motor. But they weren't this way from the factory and take work. And to me the newest 450's are way too corked up. I rode my friends 09 450R and it has no where near the guts stock as my other friends 05. Feel like two different beasts. Now 450's are not slouches at all, but they are way too tamed compared to the bike motors.

wanna know why? they have to be built diff in the factory to pull the large heavy quad instead of the light ass alum framed 2 wheeled bike.
and on that same note they need more turning power instead of the badass wot power the bikes have because there turning the axle with 2 big ass tires and wheels.
yes from the factory they could make them as balls to the wall as the bike motors but why? there's no point to do it from the factory. it is a fact the people that ride bikes normally have more balls to do stupid **** and i don't know about you but when i ride a quad I'm not always balls to the wall and going wide ass open but when i need it i want the power to be there. Now on the other hand when i throw my leg across a dirt bike (or any bike) the throttle is pegged out all the time. i never let loose unless I'm stopping.

just my thoughts there :D

true, quads need a heavier flywheel for trail riding just so it doesnt stall out all the time. also they need to be more reliable because youll get a ******* who doesnt know what maintenance is. PLUS you have lights, electric start and a battery.
one of my friends did everything to his yfz to turn it into a yzf motor and he's puttin out close to 60 hp.
and for the comment of a yz426 in a warrior, you'd be surprised how well a warrior can handle with that lighter motor and some good suspension.

i loves em :D it's sexy as hell!
alot of ppl give good reviews on the frame.
and the engine puts out 70hp as dyno'd by dirt wheels in there mag

It is a nice looking bike I must say. Like the use of 250r plastics and ergos. But I can tell you one thing. I would not want to foot the bill to purchase one, and then have to repair it.

A 450 on the market now that I really like actually is the KTM 450SX. Has really good reviews.

But for now I'm just sticking with my warrior, and 250r when I get it finished. May get a yfz or build a hybrid one day...

i'm thinking about building a hybrid... i picked up a cbr 600 F3 engine rather cheap.... idk cause i wanted it lol.
just what to put it in? haha i was thinking a 400ex or something of the sort.... but idk.
i'd like to do a KTM 920 enduro swap. put that mofo thumper in a quad frame and hold on tight

lol thought you didnt want to go balls to the wall on a quad?

With that motor I'd build a sweet shifter kart.
Back in college I was part of a formula SAE club (Rutgers Formula Racing) where we would build a small car that ended up having the ergos of an Indy car. Was a fun ride, tons of man hours and R&D in them though (forget the man hours of labor hand building it). http://rfr.rutgers.edu/thecar.html and every year the car goes to Michigan to compete against other schools from around the nation and world. (on a side note, a school from Germany the year I went, paid their way by selling calendars of girls posing with their cars).
