Curious if anyone has modded a 90-95 cdi to work on an 87? The part # prefixes are different (1UY-85540-20-00 vs 3GD-85540-20-00). They do have different plugs, but appear to have the same number of wires. I imagine the timing curve may be a little different and the timing would probably need to be reset. But cutting & replacing the plugs wouldn't be hard (other than figuring which one goes where).
Being that there are no aftermarket 87 cdi's & new ones cost as much as the bikes are worth, I've been trying to figure out an alternative. This seems like it could be reasonable and would like to know if anyone else has done this. If so, any info on how you matched up the wiring would be greatly appreciated.
