i have heard that it was the valve stem seals i was wondering how to change those and do i have to take the whole head off or can i just get to them from the valve adjustment openings.

Well... The head doesn't have to come off. You could pressurize the cylinder to hold the valves closed. Of course, you'd need a special tool to compress the springs to break them down. And, there is almost no room to work with the engine in the frame, but, it can be done. Leaking valve seals is no big deal. Ride the piss out of her.

That's what I was gonna say...haha... No big deal; some smoke on start up. If she's smoking blue or black smoke when your warm; thats a different story
