hey guys i got a k&n airfilter w/ outerwears, and lid off, do i need to rejet?

You probably will, but can't say for sure without doing some plug chops.

If you were jetted correctly before you will deffinetly need to rejet.

maybe i should just take it in, cuz all that jettin stuff confuses the **** outta me.

The only way you will ever understand it is to actually do it, and to see how the different circuits in the carb work together. IMO its just not worth the $$ to take it in and get it jetted cause you have to re-jet dependant on 1)ambient temperature 2) elevation.... so most of us would be rejetting for the cooler fall / winter, then jetting again for spring and summer.

I'd say just read up on that jetting tutorial and go from there, just make sure you remember how things came apart and everything must be super clean when going back together.

If all you have done is removed the airbox lid and put on an aftermarket filter you probably only need to bump up one or two sizes on the main jet....but don't quote me on that. Its all trial and error.

Dont take it to a shop.....

They dont do trial and error jetting because it takes too long, they go off what they think it needs and what it runs good on.

Usually they just do general jetting, not fine tuning like you can do at home.

Im not saying all shops do it but most do.

hmmm, well when i clean the parts before i put back together, can i just use water?

Water and carbs don't mix. You can get carb cleaner at any auto parts store for a couple bucks
