I have noticed when we go to places deemed public for riding that the other atv-ers are all pimped out in boots, matching shirts/pants/ gloves and helmets that all came from the local pro shop.. and im in my old pants and fleece with some old work gloves and runnign shoes..

whats the deal, am i missing out, is the pro stuff easier to clean, feel like silk on the nuts..??

enlighten me here

**** you're good man. i usually wear the same stuff. all i need is a helmet.

thanksman...

whats the deal with everyone wearing the open faced helmets too? i ride a closed motorcycle type with the flip down glass, someone told me that the open ones are designed to divert dust away form the eyes is this true?

Well join the club when i go riden its jeans, work boots, tank top if its warm enough or hoody if its chilly and my helmet witch is red and dont match the warrior. hillbilly redneck all the same. we probably have more fun cause we dont have bunch of money in our gear

I look like a real hayseed when I ride too, a pair of old worn out jeans, old work boots, and a t-shirt or carhartt jacket depending on the weather. I can't stand wearing motorcycle helmets off-road, a real MX helmet is just better. Aside from other things, i've had problems with the motorcycle helmet fogging up when riding off-road, and the visor on an mx helmet seems to help a lot in keeping mud off your goggles/eyes. Your face is only an inch away on the front piece of a motorcycle helmet too, so if you do something that stops you quickly and tosses you forward into the handlebars (like catching your tire on a tree) it's going to give you a broken nose, mx helmet has room to move.

I've wanted to get proper riding gear for years but every time I think about it, I think about the other cool **** I could get for the quad for the same price. I do have an older Moose jersey that's yellow, doesn't match anything I own or ever did own. My experience with it, though, is that it's pretty much impossible to get it clean, I can spend all day washing it and it still has spots all over it. Coal dust is hard to get out of clothes though.

yep pretty much the same here, usually old ragged cloths because they are just going to get dirty and stained anyways. look at the pics of the yfm350 first get-together ride. thats what i wear and my helmet is from the 90's (even deadlast guess that without me saying anything haha)

only benefit for "real" riding gear is that you dont have to worry about crapping it up. you can destroy that gear instead of work clothes.. i got a pair of FOX F3 riding boots and ive put them through hell and they took every bit of it. plus they are really comfortable. once in awhile, ill wear one of the two yamaha jerseys i have.

the boots help in protection idk how many times theyve saved me from a broken ankle

thats exactly why i wear em.. i destroyed my ankle a few years ago playing football. it still isnt right. before i had the boots, if i rode hard that day, by that night i was in severe pain

hmm i might invest in boots then.. no one likes to habble around and have the work buddies call you gimpie for weeks.

you deffly should.... checkout Rocky Mountain and Dennis Kirk sites. i got mine from one of those two. they were originally about $270 and i got em for 170

i second that on boots, but also long sleeve jerseys that are like the breathable material are good around here in summer cause ridin along corn fields cuts up arms and in woods its lots of thorns

The best thing about the shirts is that the dont feel as heavy like a cotton work shirt when goin through mud and water all day plus it dries super fast. As for the boots def great for protection. My boy wishes he had them when he had his accident. He wouldnt be missin half his calf muscle right now.

Super drentched jeans get annoying after awhile though. I think i'd like ridin pants for the same reason as the shirt but the prices are a bitch
