I have a 2000 warrior and if I ride it and rev it up, it's stays revved up most of the time and won't go back down to idle. When it actually decides to go down to idle it backfires though the carb and then goes down a little bit and it also backfires though carb when idling and it will just shut off some times. Thanks for the help

Sounds like a torn or cracked intake boot between the carb and head
while its running spray the boot with wd 40 if the idle changes or goes back to normal then you need a new boot
they are like $40 new on ebay

Ya I was going to do that with starting fluid today to see if it's sucking air somewhere. Thanks for the help

Is there a trick to removing that intake boot? But ya there are cracks in it.it looks like who ever had it before me put some silicone stuff around it to try and seal it and I starred peeling it off and there's cracks. But I got the carb side off but the bolts on the engine side will not come out

if it's the original boot the bolts are gonna be a bitch use a long L shaped Allen and they should come loose

I got them, had to use a long Allen and pipe lol. And there's cracks in the rubber on the outside but they don't go all the way through to the metal. Does that matter or does it still need to be replaced

I'd still replace it all it takes is a pin needle size leak and you'll have issues

Alright thanks ill order a new one and how do I know if the carb needs to be jetted? There's a aftermarket slipon and k&n air filter

pull the spark plug and clean it reallllllly good or replace it (this is after you replace the boot) run it for a while and pull the spark plug and see what color it is. if its tan/brown its perfect but if its white-ish its lean, if its lean you need to find out where you're lean..yadda yadda. replace the boot then report back

replace boot first does it bog or cut out anywhere through the throttle range?
another way to know is do plug chops 1 at idle
another at mid and another at full
check and replace spark plug with a new one each time
white = lean
brown = good
Black = rich

Alright I'll get the boot and clean the carb real good and see what happens and I did get a new spar plug the other day. And it seems like maybe going through first and second it doest respond and take off as fast as it should be seems alright after that

Alright thanks and also a lot of the time i can just be riding and not even have to push the throttle and it'll keep going like it's on cruise lol

you might have the idle set to high but replace the boot first then see if it still does those things after
cause a leaking carb intake boot will cause it to idle high

I've messed with the idle a lot so i don't think that's the problem and the air/gas mixture screw was way out so I put that to like 2-2&1/2 turn out and it didn't do anything besides some backfiring threw exhaust

your not gonna notice much of a change in anything until you replace the intake boot first
