ok i went to start my quad and it wudnt do nuttin no lights or nuttin so i look and the clip for the battery is cracked off but wen i hold it on the battery it still dont do nuttin do i just need a new batterey all together? if so ull see me in the junkyard sunday wen there closed i just get my chain temp fixed cuz it was stretched too much t oi took a link out the chain till my new chain and sprockets come which is mon but i might leave my old on till after winter so in spring ill have all new non weathered stuff

If the battery post broke off your only option is to replace the battery. I had the same problem about a month ago... with a $70 interstate battery that was almost brand new... so I got a cheap battery off rockymountainatv.com for $20 and it's working fine. I suspect the problem with it not starting with the terminal held on is 2 possible things. Either the battery is dead(test it or hook it up to a charger and try it again), or the other likely possibility I can think of is that the battery lead that broke off was the positive lead, and shorted out on the frame, causing the fuse to blow out.

Yeah you have to be careful when wrenching down on the battery terminals. The terminals are lead and will bend and get damaged very EASY with excessive force.

well im gonna try tomm as i have no school im gonna try robbing a new batterey tommorow from the local scrap yard they get brand new ones there and leave em on crates lol but arent u able to put a charger on the wires and start it or no? or am i stuck bump starting it to ride?

k i put my batterey from the lawnmower on trickle charge for the night ill see if that helps if not ill get a new batterey

well after charging all night nothing not even with the charger on engine start so wat is the next thing i should check? i wanna ride lol

the fuse could be the problem, that supplies power to everything

My next guestimation would be a starter relay; we can sit here and guess all night but you need to get your hands on a voltage tester. When you turn the key on and you put the kill switch into the on position listen for a click from the rear; tell me if you hear one. Did you try to pop start it?

no click no anything i havent tried bump starting it yet i havent had a friend over to push i will in a lil bit but im positive it will bump start

Hmmm... You REALLY need a voltage tester (have I said that already?) lol. If no click from the starter relay and the thing pop starts the relay may very well be shot... Or the switch itself is f00k3d!

VOLTAGE TESTER!

VOLTAGE TESTER!

VOLTAGE TESTER!

VOLTAGE TESTER!

Pop that beast!

Page 7-12 of the Service Manual has the starter troubleshooting procedure, if you have one.

yah i do i was gonna pop start it but my axles no messed up lol idk my sprocket hub comes loose the 2 big bolts and not the axle spins and the sprocket dont but i tightened it and idk so i might have more probd but tomm my electrician friends coming over and were gonna get thjis thing running

In first it will just drag the tires. I used 2nd or 3rd while my starting system was taking a ****.

ha hes gonna look at it and bring over some testers to see whats bad so hopefully it will be running by tommorow night

Make sure you tighten down the first nut all the way and then the second one on top of it all the way.
