iv been using tap water its filterd, but my dads been using it for years and hasent produced any problems

Distilled (De-Ionized) water has no contaminants or other chemicals in it, the battery chemistry makeup is very fragile and shouldn't be contaminated with foreign chemicals and other minerals/metals found in tap water. These chemicals and other foreign matter can and will change the composition of the electrolyte.

It is nice that your dad has used tap water for years but you are harming your battery by doing it.

As the common phrase goes - "I don't care it's not my bike", do as you will.

*DO NOT USE TAP WATER!

Yeah my dads a Off shore Fisherman by trade and he even does it with the big boat batterys the ones that weight up to 300 pounds and cost around 1000$ apeice

lololol... Unfortunately your dad’s actions can not change the chemistry of ordinary tap water and how it reacts in a battery. A lot of people smoke but that doesn’t mean it’s good for them either; it’s that type of deal. The quad battery may not be $1,000.00 but $60-$80.00 is enough for me :-[ and disserves the correct treatment.

Filtered water only removes particles, not contaminants.

For the minimal price of a gallon of distilled water, I wouldn't take the chance.

The last thinig you need is to find you battery went tits-up just before a big ride, or worse yet when you are out on the trail miles from nowhere.

Im just saying it has not created any problems any problems hes had thos batterys for 12-15 years. And my grandfathers done it for ever.

Ok but it still damages the battery; I can't conceive why people won’t do things the right way when it’s so cheap and protects their investment... lol People smoke for over 60 years and it eventually catches up with them and kills off their abilities before others... It’s just the same old story in many areas.

You pay $60 for a damn battery!!!??? No wonder you cant afford the swingarm right now!!! ;) ;D I only paid $25 from the damn yamaha dealer of all places!

Meh... My main cause of not buying **** for the quad right now is my truck! I have been buying mods for it lately. Once I buy my HID kit for the truck I will be back to quad mods.
