this is the second time that ive broken a bolt off in the exhaust manifold the first one i broke when taking it out and it was rusted and snapped so i had to drill it and re tap it to 1/4 20 then went to lowes and got 2 grade 5 blots one for the now hole and one for the old cuz that bolt was messed up so i went rideing for a little bit and it was kinda loose so i tighten them up and the one that was in the stock hole just broke off when it was sitting there idleing does anybody know what i can use to hold the exhaust in my first thought was a stronger bolt but then i was told that i have to be carefull cuz if the bolt is rusted in or something i want the bolt to break not the threads so does anybody have any ideas thank you

loc tite would just hold it in there better but my problem is they keep breaking and then i cant get the old bolt out i was thinking atiz seize however you spell it but i still need to get the bolt to stop breaking

Best thing to do is install studs, then use anti seize on a double nut system. I have a head I tried to drill the exhaust studs out of AFTER someone else tried to do it. Bad deal. Now I'm rebuilding a spare head with good stock studs still in place. Good luck.

DONT PUT A GORILLA GRIP ON EM!!! u might be overtightening them when putting them in!!! try not tightening them so tight just snug them up a lil bit!!

but if i dont tighten them up then the exhaust isnt sitting tight and its not good to run with out and exhasut so wouldnt it blow it up

wnk
what do u mean a double nut system so basically i buy a bolt cut the head off of it and screw that into the head then put a nut on it and tighten that up then just tighten the second one on to it as if it were a lock nut

maybe a heli coil drill it out to the right size and tap it and then thread in the heli coil and you got brand new threads. you might want to check the exhaust to make sure it is not bent puting to much pressure breaking the bolt.

Install the proper studs and use two nuts per side (jamnut style) to hold the pipe on.

i had snapped both of mine as well:
Drilled and tapped to a 8mm helicoil, then installed the stock 6mm studs back in, cut a bit off of the stock nuts, then used a second nut to jam. Works as good as your mom on her back!(kidding)

lol wow thats one that i have never heard before but i will have to try that.
