Hey, anyone rebuild tranny on 1987 warrior 350. I went to ride labor day weekend and noticed third gear felt like it was slipping and making noise. Next thing i know i lost 2nd and 3rd gears. Having a shop do it will cost more than the bike is worth so i thought i would attempt it myself. I'll take any advice before i start. Thanks

It's easy if you have any mechanical ability.
If you don't let a shop do it
buy a new (used) transmission and just install it if your up for it.

Well, if you blew out gears you can't really rebuild it.
So yeah it would be easier just to buy a complete used assembled transmission and throw it in

Don't buy the bits until you've taken it apart cos you can guarantee you'll just get the wrong ones, also bits of steel will always win against ally and bits of dog clutches/cogs may well have made a mess of some of the castings (may not be important though...
As to rebuilding its not that hard, just set aside more time than you think will need, get your benches really really clean. Have look on YouTube for the guy doing the big bear 350 engine tear down that's pretty usefully and is basically the same motor.

Good luck!!

You will also need to rebuild the top end. Unless you are really crafty, and are able to leave the piston inside the cylinder so as not to break the seal of the rings... It can be done. In theory. No one has tried, I don't think.

How would you get the wrong trans they are all the same in the warriors.

hey alex is every year warrior tranny really the same. also the top end was just rebuilt would i just have to put new rings or what?

Nearly everything about a Warrior's engine is the same throught the years. Only thing that I think they changed was the idler gear shaft for the starter. If the top end was JUST rebuilt, get new rings, re-hone it, and you will be good to go.

If you want to make the front end "smoother" look into +2 or +3 arms, and shocks.
