I was just reading the cam specs thread in the tutorial section and i was wondering what means the duration of a cam ??? cause i'm now checking to buy a new cam and i want to make sure to buy the cam that will suit me the best....

I've also thinked of machining my hot cam stage 1 for adding about 0,10 to bring it to a 404mm do you think it's a good idea cause I can do it myself at school ??? do you think it will make a significant increase ??? I am lookin for something that scream in the mid range and top end

Megacycle 252x1 race cam .450" This is all out race rev cam for the 350cc.
Duration is how long the valves are open for... longer the valves are held open the more you aid in cylinder filling.. sadly it's not a perfect world and for what you gain in the power band you usally will loose somewhere else.
I wouldn't recomend machining the camshaft.. you'll likely hurt performance more then you will gain anything.

Also duration is a good way to tell where in the power band the cam is going to work.
Smaller duration or overlap... lower rpm power.
Longer duration and overlap.. more top end power.

Duration is how long the valve stays open for in relation to crank shaft degrees of rotation. Example 288° duration means the valve stays open for 288° of crankshaft rotation. For a good midrange cam I would, and have gone with the Megacycle 252X1, this cams pulls like a mad man between midrange and topend. If your looking for a good low to mid range cam go with the Web .390 cam, this cam will produce stump pulling torque.

Does the webcam .430 cam would be similar to that megacycle 252x1 cam cause i've just called my dealer at 9h15 this morning and he said he can have webcam but not Megacycle ???

What spring would you recommend whit that Kibllewhite ???

thanks a lot

The Web is a tad smaller, but you'll probably never know the diference, plus it'll be a little better for more mid range.

Web is just a little smaller like dave said.
Personally I would go direct if you can that way you don't have the mark up of the dealer.

yeah but that's because i'm in Canada....i'll see what price my dealer make me compared to what web ask for....if my dealer is to pricey i'll just order it from internet.....
