I have only been able to ride my 96 Warrior a for about 1/2 hour at a time so far. After about a 20-25 minutes it starts to blubber at the low end. Feels like it's running rich. checked/cleaned the carb multiple times. when i try to restart, I get no spark. when I check every thing out I find bad coils (2 cheap coils so far). out of spec on the primary side. this last time I put on the factory coil, after checking it of course. still no spark. the stator/CDI & pickup on the engine both check out ok. According to Ricks Electric the 1996-2001 Stator is the same, but the 1996 is all on it's own for a CDI box. the 1997-2001 is a different box. has any put a 1997-2001 box on a 1996 bike? what I'm wondering: is my CDI box causing the coils to fail? and would the 97-01 box be a better choice if the stator and coils carry the same part#s from 1996-2001??? According to the dealer parts guy the CDI boxes carry the same main Part # 3GD-85540- then after the dash is a revision # he called it, but can't claim any interchangeability knowledge between the two parts. he said sometimes they will and sometimes they won't.
Still new to 4 Wheelin' I Worked on Automatic transmissions all my life, But this bike is really giving me a hard time. haven't been beat up like this since...:argh: let's just say awhile. Any info will be Appreciated.

beast solution is to either change everything out to the 90-95 wiring or the 97-2000 wiring so you have more options if you ever need a cdi box...
