I just bought a 2005 Raptor 350 for my daughter. I adjusted the valves and we went for a ride and the bike backfired and died. I couldn't get it restarted until we got it home and it would only run on choke. I cleaned the carb and it seems to idle and rev just fine. Now I'm having problems tracking down a clicking sound in forward gear. It starts when the clutch is about half way out before the bike starts to move. I don't hear the sound in reverse. Thanks for any ideas or help in advance.

is the reverse selector pushed all the way forward??? the only reason i ask is because mine did the exact same thing this evening and it turned out the selector wasnt all the way in the forward position.

I'll check that out. I have since noticed that the exhaust valve cover is leaking oil. I can't get it to seal properly. I will be replacing the seal. Thanks for the reply.

Yea first thing would be to make sure the lever is all the way forward, mine does it occasionally too.

So I had my wife let the clutch out while I tried to figure our where the clicking is coming from using a the screwdriver to my ear method. It seems like the clicking is coming from the cam chain tensioner. That's the closest I could get to the clicking. The bike starts and runs great. It seems to have good power through the gears.

I checked the valves again and everything was in spec. So the clicking is definately when the engine is lugging. I'm thinking maybe I should check the timing chain to see if its stretched. Thanks for help.
