clutch not disengaging reverse

Here's my dumb question for the day: the clutch should disengage reverse just like the rest of the gears right? Everything works great for all forward gears, and disengages just fine, I shift into reverse, and it just starts rolling and i cant get it back out of reverse even in neutral unless i shut the machine down. Anyone have any ideas?
