when my quad is cold, it pops out of the carb and spits and sputters and wont let you rev at all or it stalls......could that be related to the valve timing being verry off?

yea the valves will have a lot to do with it what guage did u use when u were ajusting them valves

i havent ajusted them yet, that is what im doing this weekend, but yeah they are wayy off, i checked, its like .127mm and it needs to be like .051mm, so yeah, we will see how it does after its back together

yea just make sure u hold the guage at the right angle cause if its at an rong angle it will give u a rong results

It sounds lean or your valves are a bit out. When you cold start with an edel you pump the throttle a few times to prime her and crank away - hold it at a high idle for a bit and then it should be fine.

i know how to cold start it but i am deffitnetly not lean

If you are not lean then your valves are out of spec (probably a bit tight) - "hiccuping" at the carb is almost always LEAN if it isnt valves.

whell it iss wayyyyy too rich and the valve gapping is way too large, not to tight

Ok well regardless (obviously there is no way for me to know what the valves are at and your mixture is at with out me being there) so I am left to speculate. Still was right on.... Valves are probably out and your mixture is off. I will still say though a "hiccup" at the carb when not due to valves is usually a LEAN condition on one of the circuits...

I hope you didnt just pull the plug and go ah.. its running rich cause it was a little soot caked (the plug will look like this just starting it/warming it up).
