Well, it's interesting that Suzuki has dropped their 450r according to Dirtwheels. The Z400 is back to take it's place. I guess maybe more affordable trail bikes are still cool afterall. Yamaha is trying to offer a base model 450 in the YFZ while still offering the 450r as their flagship. To me this isn't a bad idea but I wish Yamaha would just build a decent mid model trail 400 Raptor. Something along Z400 lines but Yamaha. I like the old 350 as much as anyone else but a "techier" mid model Raptor would be really nice.

From what I can remember of the news this summer was that Suzuki had to pull the LTR due to the fact that it was too easy for the LTR450 to bypass EPA regulations ala the cherry bomb modification that practically everyone did.

I love Dirtwheels lol. I do really like their Readers Rides, questions, and their line up articles. But I find it hilarious they build a very mild Banshee and call it "arm ripping power" "fastest thing we have built" and "brain melting fast" lol. It's 390cc on pump gas, with FMF pipes... I'm not seeing how it could be THAT INSANE? Don't get me wrong, but I can't see how it is that intense?

And I have noticed they almost always will pick a yamaha over another brand in their shootouts. I am just not seeing how a YFZ450r could be better than a DS450mx or the LTR. Same thing with the Grizzly, I know me personally, I love riding a V-Twin with a CVT, over a big bore single.

And how they like the 540 Quadzilla as much as the duner LTR in their Zuki duner shootout. I could rant forever. But I won't lol.

Thats because banshee's are fast as f**k with just pipes and filter upgrade. Let alone a stroker. Prob not the fastest thing they have built but you'll never get the hp a banshee gets when u just pipe and filter a 4 stroke.

Not true with all built Banshees. I saw a SB/SS beat a 421 on 300' because the 421 wasn't built right...

I also hate how much they praise Trinity Racing. I would never send a part there of my own. They suck!

Advertising dollars = shootout champs

It's very, very obvious that Yamaha pays out the most advertising dollars to the writers at dirtwheels. Being a vintage two stroke guy, I can't stand that magazine and refuse to read it.

no way, they HAVE to fix the ltr issues and bring that back. Borich races the ltr and is sponsored my Suzuki, wonder if that will throw a kink into his plans for next year, I'm sure he'll run the older model for a while but I know those guys like to bitch when they don't get the newest model.
