Ok i feel like a complete idiot right now. Ive got a bad habit of second guessing myself. But i took my warrior in and the guy called me today, saying i need a top end rebuild and a new rear brake master cylinder. He asked me if i wanted OEM or after market, aftermarket was $30 cheaper and includes wiseco piston. But anyway he told me the esimate was $525. Now what i was secong guessing myself about is i wasnt sure if he said that included labor, i guess i just assumed it did. But do you guys think that would include labor? Im gonna call them tommorow, i would just like some reassurance tonight so i can sleep because this is gonna bug the **** out of me. lol Sorry if its dumb, thanks for your opinions

sounds right to me, its always a rip off when you have to have a shop do the labor...but sounds about right

yeah i figured id just bite the bullet on this one. Ive never tore into a top end before so i was a wuss about it. But i now I got a Big Red 3-wheeler and im gonna tear it down and learn stuff. lol

I could do a top end rebuild with new rings, piston and gaskets, 5 times with that much money but like stated... the labor is waht kills you.

Thanks, you make me feel so much better. lol. Im pretty sure it will be the last time my bike enters a shop

If you could do a topend for $105 ($525/5) let me know where you're getting your parts.

The part alone at dealer prices for piston, rings and gaskets is gonna be about $150 (probably closer to $200). Bore and honeing the cylinder is probably gonna be another $80 (just a guess cause it can vary so much by location and the dealer is gonna charge more than it cost them) So you are looking at roughly atleast $230 in dealer costs for parts and that would leave $295 for labor. That would be about 5 hours at $60 an hour. 5 hours seems long to me but that really isn't a bad price for a dealer to do it.

Too bad you don't live in colorado cause I'd help you do it for the cost of parts and a case of beer.

Buy a manual, but a manual, buy a manual! You will be suprised at how much work you can do on your own!!! I never did any kind of engine work until I bought my 4 wheeler. I bought a manual and since then I have completely stripped mine to the frame and rebuilt it, and built another one, buying every single piece off ebay after purchasing a half ass rolling chasis locally, and rebuilt 2 motors from parts off ebay.

You also have to remember that $85 of that was for my rear master cylinder for my brakes.

Forgot about that part, in that case $525 is a pretty good price from a dealer
