Just surfing the web last night and by chace found this:
http://www.ecotrons.com/400cc_to_800cc_Engine_EFI_kit.html

Is it worth it? I mean the trouble or the money?
I´ve read a thread, i think it was deadlast who entered the dyno with 18 hp and left with 33!!!!!!!!!
Having a system that will alowe us to easely fine tune for power or economy, instead of of randomly playing with jets and watching spark plug colors, i now that i ve still have to go to the dyno but having a AFR reading makes the tuning more easy. Any way is it worth the 600 bucks?

in all honesty i think its a waste of money and time, yeah it gives you everything to hook it up but then comes assembely and all that happy horse **** when i belive its easier to just pull the float bowl of swap a jet or to take it for a quick ride and see if it bogs or snaps

I think its kinda something you have to decide. Some people race their quads and could use the ease of it in tuning. Its really a thing you would have to decide in my eyes.

I see, but my point is that i think that most of us who upgrade their bikes motor never get to see the full potencial of all the mods they have made without proper fueling, i now that changing jets is far more inexpensive than efi, but its a little bit crude... I m gathering some parts and money for improving the motor using this forum as guidance, but i am a liitle apreensive about getting the fuel right by myself...
But i do think that 600usd is a lot of money that could be spent on other upgrades.

if you do decide to do it go for it, its all in oppinion from person to person. and sometimes to see the full potental in our upgrades its best top dyno it but in the real world out in different terrain it will always perform differently with car or the efi

I had talked about this before. Ecotrons also makes a small engine turbo.

They'll help you with all the initial setup, and seem like a good company to deal with.
The kits aren't to expensive when you look at the cost of a new carb either. I think the EFI kits are a big step in modern performance.

The only real downfall to it, is all the wiring.. It you ride in the mud a lot, or do a lot of creek crossings, you would have to make sure the kit was installed using water tight connections. Or else you could have problems.

IMO the Ecotrons kits are way cool, and if you have the money to play with it I say go for it.

After my experiences with efi and today's bucking match with a efi700 on my track I would much rather have a carb any day! Infact on my kfx450r im converting it to a carb to make it less prone to stall and less brassy.

In my opinion its cool as hell, handy, and if you want it to be crisp like a holly go for it.

But for me ill take a carb any day, it just suits my style better. Less electronic fits too.

My 700 is fuel injected, it's nice but I think I'd be just as happy with a good carb. I'm not sure how you figure that jetting is "crude", it's far from crude, it may not be high tech, and I guess if you're just some Bitch ass computer troll that doesn't want the smell of fuel on his hands then yeah, I guess jetting is"crude". Otherwise, it's a topic that takes a lil mechanical sense and tough hands. Not saying that you're that guy...just feel sorry for you if you are.

Efi is neat and all. Best suited on a automobile, imo. There are too many issues I've heard about on the quads that will make me shy away from it. Lets face it, who wants to be broken down on a trail because of a TPS going bad, or a falty computer, or even a 02 sensor. Your carb starts acting up, the chances are good that you can limp home. I have not ridden an efi quad, but all our quads have good throttle responce, especially my Fourtrax and Warrior. Between the CV carb on the Honda and all the mods to the engine, and the accel pump mods and Weston's intake w/all the mods on the warrior, I hit the throttle and the power is there. Only complaint I do have is after running WOT for extended periods, coming to a stop and having to feed it fuel until the bowl refills is a hair annoying. It's all in the tuning and modding. Matter of fact, I'm going to try boring my extra carb.

I don't think it would be worth the money, effort, or time. If buying a new machine I would pay a little extra for efi; all other things constant, but I am positive a retrofit would not be worth the hassle. A well tuned carb will perform just as good as efi, and a bad tune can leave efi running like poop. EFI makes fuel changes quick, can lend more finite control, and compensate for temperature/altitude. Unless you plan on racing pikes peak I don't see this mattering much (I am a fan of go out, hit the button, and ride no matter temperature). I would think a carb would have to be more reliable long term due to fewer places for possible failure. I have quads and vehicles of each type fuel system, and would not switch either from one system to the other if you were to give me the parts.

I wouldn't do it. All those retro fit kits are hard to dial in because they are a universal kit. I put a Holley fuel injection on a '78 Blazer and I never could get it dialed in right. Swapped back to a carb and she ran great. JMO

Thanks for all the opinions. Its good to know other points of view in order to see the whole picture. I´ll stick to carb then!

Dont say that electrons has cheap electronics, the ninja250 guys have a lot of good things to say about em, they love em.
