K well i just got my battery and i never had one before just got the bike, I hooked it all up pushed the start button and all i herd was a single click from the solinoid. It would do that every time i hit the start. We tryed to bypass it by conecting the 2 sides with a wirer and it still did the same thing. I thought bypass would work but nothing happend. All the lights work. Does anybody know what to do. Im going to try and get my friends soliniod to see if its just that.

Tap lightly on the starter and solenoid with a hammer. See what happens. Mine would start if I played with it enough. However, I took apart my starter and cleaned it thoroughly with contact cleaner. It worked for a few days. I then pulled it apart again and bought some new brushes for it at a starter/alternator shop. It hasn't failed me in 6 months now. Btw, the starter is on the front of the engine.

I'd check the acid level on the battery and make sure the battery is fully charged. I had a problem like that, where the lights would turn and and the solenoid would click, but there wasn't enough power to turn the starter over. Checked my fuses, which were fine, and used a voltmeter to check the lineds were getting power. Eventually I cleaned the terminals, hooked the battery up to a battery tender, charged it, hooked it back up, and bike turned over just fine.

K well i know its not the battery or the solinoid. The battery is bran new and has a full charg, i took the soliniod off of my dads timberwolf which i know works and it did the same thing.

Im going to check the startor tomarrow. The engine is a 1989 so that might be it if its broken i have one off a 1999 would those line up the same on the different engines i know there the same but they did make a few changes between the newwer one and the older ones.

One of my friends told me it might be the cdi box, could that be the problem?

Thanks for the help guys.

I'd check that starter before freaking out. Mine was doing precisely the same thing.

should i even mess with the old 1989 starter thats in it or just switch them out right now, i herd there a lot to rebuild, is there a way to test a starter?

also check ur relay to make sure it works and check the grounds at the battery on the motor and there is one lil one that connects to the harness around the relays i think also make sure ur neutral light is on and all that good stuff if that dont work get a set of jumper cables or a thick wire like that and run it from the pos side of ur batt down to the starter that will bypass everything and if ur starter is good it should turn over

k well my brother changed out the starters while i was at our schools winter formal and it works now the only thing that is wrong now is the reverse light is always on and the neutral light never comes on.

I just took out the dash board becuase it berialy fit with the aftermarket bars i have but if anyone knows what the problem is for that i will fix it and put my dash back on.

Thanks everone.
