i bought a stator off of my dealer who goes thru a company called Western Power Sports... the brand is ELECTREX although i think it is really either a rebranded rickys or rm stator.... either way the pickup coil was wired wrong and i had to switch the red and the white wires at the plug.... after that it fired right up! but until i was informed of that issue, i beat my head off the wall for 3 weeks ill bet....

funny thing is my dealer bought one for a kawasaki dirtbike from the same people/brand and it was the same way!! i dont know whats up with the quality conrol over there but certainly beware!!

I will just say that I've had Rickys, RM and Electric and ALL of them I had to switch the coil wires. They even send you a little slip that says, "if does not start flip white and red wires."

I will also add that Rickys and RM I've had problems with the pickup coil coming off the stator. So unless you go for the factory one it is just a cheap nock off.

jason so you also had the problem of the pickup coil coming off the stator? my brothers 95 just did that a little while ago, it took out the complete stator (which was only 2 years old) and completely destroyed the flywheel. so that it has been sitting for a couple of months because we are not sure what to do with (the warrior itself needs a ton of work, mostly engine work). but i could not believe that pickup coil came off like it did.

the pickup coil isnt attached to the actual stator?? if your pickup coils are coming off then maybe we should be using a bit of blue locktite on the two bolts that hold them down on the housing?....

how much did that factory one run ya jason?

i said it before and if it is the case that you have to switch the wires on ALL of them then i think there should be a sticky warning people like me that dont get the handy piece of paper that the wires may need switched...

Yeah off the charging side of the coil. This was a rickys unit. Luckly the bike just died in the middle of the trail and then I got pushed home by a honda.
That totally sucks man that the stator did that.
I would at the very least contact where you got it from and just say hey you know .. and don't expect to recieve anything but it helps make the product better. You might even get a new stator for free.

I haven't replace mine with a factory one yet. I wish I would have after ******* around with all the other stators. You get what you pay for IMO. I could have bought a factory one at the time for $375. So how much longer is that going to last and no screwing around, you know it is going to work, for the extra money.

The source coil is. It is basically pressed on to the ring and then then looks to be peened on. So it can be replaced when you call in for warantee. This is also why you usally have to switch the pickup wires because if the other parts of the coil are good they replace the pickup coil and send it out the door. Most I would say are rebuilt if bought off e-bay. Since they use like 4 different electrical ends on the different years for all one assembly that is what screws them up my guess. Not knowing which way the wires go. Out of the 3 units I've had they have all come with the slip that says may have to flip the red and white wires (or blue and green) on some.
Also they say run the pickup as close to the flywheel as possible.
So again you want to bitch about one company you better start with all of them as there all cheapo's in my opinon and from what I've found.
