I have a bottom end off a 1998 warrior that I believe is in great running condition that I want to swap for one on a 2001 Warrior. The 2001 is crap... Can I swap these and if so do I need to worry about the top end? The top end on the 2001 Warrior is awesome... Do I need to take anything other than the above into consideration?

Also, I get a clunking noise while running my 2002, I suspected a chain issue but checked it out and it's fine... Seems like it's coming from near the clutch.. Just started happening. Can I still ride it or will I blow something? Gonna check oil levels in a bit to see.

Any help would be appreciated thanks!

the clunking noise is probably connecting rod bearing or crank bearing going if it is constantly knocking while running or under load don't run it until you know for sure if it is one of those 2 things it will blow or lock up

the knock is one of 2 issues, 1. is the crank is going out (as stated above) and if its that it sounds more like a rattle with a vibration to it, or 2. the clutch has something loose, my money is on number 2, remove the clutch cover and check and see if any of the bolts holding the clutch springs in is loose, if thats the issue one of them will look like its been hit with a hammer and show wear on the top of the head. just tighten it back up and go again! id check it out asap before it goes critical.

I goofed with it for awhile today.. Even pulled the crank cover. Everything looked fine. It even makes the sound with the quad off in neutral with me just pushing it... Seems like it's more frequent while in 2nd or 3rd gear.. I really want to think it's just rocks / debris because it was fine yesterday...
