I assume you are referring to the "strainer" that comes out with the oil plug. It does just that - strains.

It's a wire mesh cup and a spring that goes in with the oil drain plug. It's supposed to catch the bigger contaminants in the oil.

OH! Okay that thing. Well when I bought a new oil plug the dealer gave us this tapered pipe its like 3cm long and said I should replace mine.

Wow, I don't have that. I guess it is missing. Maybe I should replace it????

It would be a good idea, it's probably only a few bucks for both parts
