I have been quading plenty of times in the past, but this is my first quad. I had my family pick up the 08 Wolverine 450 for me from Troy city garage, NY since I am currently deployed overseas. I told the family to take it on some local, slow, easy rides just so it's broken in for me when I get home. Is riding it through two tanks good for breaking in? I joined to find some good info for modifications. I was thinking about getting the Ricochet skid plate set. Any suggestions for modifications to look into or order before I get back to the states? Can't wait to get out of the sand and into the mud!

Great website!

any performance mod you can do is good, yamaha sells a power package for around 500 that is exhaust, new air box and filter, and jet kit....i hear this is an great set up, i would suggest the skid plates, search on this site for skid plates, there is a member that can get them for a good price, moose also has them avalible. good luck and welcome

Welcome aboard and thanks for your service!

What part of NY are you from? We have a few people from the Albany area that ride with us in Massachusetts. I think it's just a bit under 2 hours to Mass from there. One of my good riding buddies lives up in Malta. When you get a chance, check out www.northeastatvers.com to plan some rides.

Glad to have you aboard. I think you will enjoy the Wolverine, I know I love mine. I would definetly get either the Ricochet or the GYTR skidplates.

Thanks for the feedback. I got intouch with the guy about the ricochet skids. Is there a good site to find this Yamaha package you're talking about? What kind of difference could I expect from those mods?

Glenn, my family has a place near Hancock, NY. It's a little further west. I like to go there when I'm home, but the rest of the time when I'm not in the dessert I'm at Ft Bragg, NC.

As far as the power pack, for about 450 you should be able to get the GYTR pipe,K&N air filter and Dynojet jet kit
That would give you more midrange and top end speed, if you want more low end torque later then you can add the EPI clutch kit for about 190.

Cool. If you're ever up for a long visit and want to do some riding, let me know!
