As seen in the title ! I am pissed at HotRods ! I bought the
379 CC stroker kit about 2 months ago and they have trouble keeping up with the demand... I bought the kit from Race Parts Plus on January 15th... I just got today 2013-03-12, my tracking number for my crank, piston, gaskets and bearings... Can you beleive that! And I asked Hotrods when will the HotCam be available ? They answered, those will only be available in 6 weeks from now. Do they always have this much trouble keeping up with the demand ?

I feel like canceling my Hot Cam and get a Webcam instead... Will this be affecting my big 3 ???

Also if I buy from WebCams they say $159 plus core... What does plus core mean ?

Thankx !

means they will charge a core charge until they get your stock cam in return then you will get the core charge deposit back

Backorder is common when parts are in low surplus or are hand made, and these fall in that category. I mean I got a rain check for ammo over a month ago and I'm still waiting for mine... Different product, same concept. When there is high demand, things take a while to get done.

I ordered my stroker crank from a bike store on Ebay. Took about a week to get it. You can get a s2hc on ebay, no prob. You are going to get better performance with another cam, though. Web states, "must use hardweld rockers". Now, many guys say that isn't necessary. But, I look at it as, they state it, I'll do it. Afterall they made the cam. You can get a Megacycle, Powroll, or CWR cam, that doesn't "require" hardweld rockers, and they seldom require a core. Many of them are billet cams, so no core charge.

True that^^^. You are going to be WAY better off running a Wiseco or JE and having, or making, a base spacer to run the piston. Or, better yet, have a big bear 400 cylinder milled down to the correct deck height.

Call Greg at CWR, he'll set you straight. Oh, I hope you aren't using the piss poor piston that vertex makes fur that kit.

dude they told me never put Kimpex Pistons in your sled or you will be sorry...

I've had Kimpex Piston in my 94 Vmax For about 4 years now and never had any problems. I even toed a friends 2012 M8 for about 4 miles and the sled still runs great... And I am not building a space rocket here...

The vertex piston is a low compression cast piston, for that reason I wouldn't mess with it. Also, I understand that you aren't building a race rocket but if you don't want to improve your performance then why bother with a Stroker in the 1st place? A custom forged piston with increased compression would be a better compliment to your crank.....just sayin.
Hell just do as Pat said, get a normal piston in a Wiseco or JE and have Cometic make you a shim. That way you have more piston options.

Everything is bought and paid for... I was basically mad a Hotrods because I found that their service was really slow... I had an 11:1 JE piston in my Raptor 700 and a S2HC and was very happy with that.

Now I have all of that shipped already... and I will give it a try ! If I'm happy with it why not ? And If I get tired of the 350 and I see that this is not working out... I'll get back to the 700 ! I'll keep you posted on how well it will do ! I'll even make videos !

If you are dead set on using that piston, leave out the base gasket, and use the center shim from an old head gasket to get the comp up to something respectable. Just measure your deck height without the base gasket and see what it is. The center shim of the head gasket is only about .010". I just did all this **** with a forged stroker piston.

I don't disagree. But, right now, it runs like a raped ape, and I'm tired of working on it. It needs to go to Hatfield in a few weeks. I am seariously considering a 85mm JE 10.5:1 with a milled big bear cylinder in the future. Probably do that this year sometime...
