[quote:pshuz2i4]Thats pretty much what I'm going to do when I build my own exhaust and muffler setup.

Your gona build an exhaust/silencer set up for your raptor?[/quote:pshuz2i4]

Yup.

Dale Walker of Holeshot Performance is a good (old) friend of mine, he makes some of the best street systems out there. I'm gonna build the muffler in his shop using a 2" perforated core, in a 14" can. I just found a universal USFS spark arrestor screen mesh I can use that comes with a USFS sticker.

Right now I'm making an appropriate end-cap on my mill & lathe to accommodate a S/A mesh on one of his exhaust caps. Then is just a matter of making a mid-pipe (easy), and doing the fitment.

Then we'll send the header and mid-pipe off to the coating company he's currently using, and should be good to go.

It'll be fun to build, and should come out pretty cool.

2" perforated core, 14 inches long, sounds like an hmf? Should be a cool project, might not make as much power as big companys like yoshi etc etc that put hours of r&d into it but either way it will be fun. Definately wana see the finished project ;D

Probably sounds like any typical exhaust ;)

It will make excellent power, guaranteed, on par with any manufacturer. Thats the joy of having a dyno at the shop, and a MASTER exhaust-system builder at your side.

I've been studying other exhaust for the Raptor 350 as well (and I'll say this is only Raptor 350 exhaust, not the Warrior), particularly the Yosh, FMF, Big Gun, and LRD systems. One of the things I found was with the headers. There seems to be very little variation in length, and OD/ID compared to a stock Raptor 350 header (that says to me the OEM Raptor 350 header is actually pretty good).

That started telling me all the gains are in the muffler and mid-pipe for the Raptor 350. I started looking at mid-pipes, and most are pretty much stepped in the same place. I can move that around with a test pipe, and help put the power-band more where I like it.

Another thing I found that confirmed there wasnt much gain to be found in the header was something I found from HMF Techs on their forums, indicating they had tried a few configs, and found no notable gain with another header for the Raptor 350.

That explained a few things in itself IMO. I think a lot of the aftermarket headers for the Rap' 350 are primarily as a replacement, that looks better, and matches the rest of the system mostly.

Most of the cores being used are 2" or 1-3/4" perf' from what I can find, though the Yosh may use a louvered core, I havent had a chance to look at that ones guts.

So, a lot of the R&D is already done for me, and the known-good specs are there... and if all are close/similar, youre good to go ;)

Griff hurry up and get this done. I wana see some dynos and a sound clip too ;D I'll give it to ya griff, your a pretty intelligent guy haha.

LOL! Thanks man :D

I have to get the S/A end cap done 1st, and thats gonna take me some time... mostly because its a side project, and I can only work on it here & there. I'm hoping to have it done by next month, and then I'll take my Rap' down to Dales shop to finish the rest.

I really just wanted to do something different for my 350, I'm not expecting to find any magical HP beyond what other exhausts get.

Hey 97 I'll let you know how I like my full curtis sparks when I get it. Might change your mind on what pipe you want ;)
