My starter clutch was grabbing and stalling the starter and engine while i was trying to start it so i took it apart and the gear that goes behind the flywheel is stuck in the starter clutch, anybody know how to safely unstick the two?

spray it down with PB blaster let soak and then just keep trying to free it and it should eventually come apart
I had to lightly pry between the flywheel and starter clutch on one from a 92 and it slowly came apart

Get a piece of ally tube against the teeth and give it a tap in the right direction with a small ish hammer to unstick it (make sure you use ally or you'll trash the teeth. Mine did this when I took the bike apart and cleaned it, didn't re oil it so it was stuck when I put the engine back together
