Hey guys. I recently got a 1989 lt250r. I would love to get into some harescramble races. It has nerf bars. Recently rebuilt rear shock. Fmf fatty and it .20 over with high compression piston. How old do I have 2 be to race? I am 16. And are ther certain classes. Like age or two stroke or 4 stroke classes. I've never raced anything before. Just some hard fast trail riding. And what you guys reccomend for getting me going with the quad?. Thanks

look up your local league or tracks and look in their rules or class qualifications thats the most acurate way to do it.

thats a big IF...

Yeah Yeah Yeah........

First off, add a tether kill switch to your quad.

Secondly, where are you located? Look you your local XC series and read what they have to say. Every series is a little differently when it comes to age and classes. Most series have multiple classes and every age is able to run. If your new, and if they have a school boy or woodsman class, that what you should run in. That I know of there are no limitations for 4 or 2 stroke quads, but they won't let you run 3 wheelers via the 1980's ama rules (there are separate 3 wheeler clubs that run, which are cool to watch).

If you ride often and are able to hole your own in the woods/tight trails, your should be just fone and have a ton of fun.

One thing I do have to mention if that if you get a guy on your ass and hear them revving out, pull over and let them pass. Or if you break down on the trail, get the quad off the trail as far over as you can. Few newbie pointers/heads up.
