This subject has been discussed before and i believe everyone that has an aftermarket cam including myself would suggest to buy a higher quality cam such as web cams, powroll, or megacycle. Hot Cams are designed to work with stock valve springs and you wont notice as much of a gain than say if you went with web cam. As far as stage 1 and 2 goes stage 1 delivers more low-mid and 2 is more of a mid-top end cam. I personally have a stage 2 web cam and love it.

What 98warrior said, the stock valve springs are weak for the stocke cam let alone anything with a more aggresive lobe design. Go Web cam and Kibble White valve springs, you'e notice a difference and money better spent IMO.

I forgot to mention putting a big cam in with stock compression isn't recommended either, as it will bleed down the cylinder too much and cause a sluggish motor, so go with the smaller cam to start or do it all at once.

stage 2 hotcams have been out for as long as the stage 1's, just until now you had to call up hotcams to order one, instead of buying it directly from a dealer. Same deal as the stage 1 hotcam, they're still milder than one of the good ones.
