any reason to spend 45 bucks on one? i just dont see the point.
 
To keep an eye on hrs for maintenance.

Some also have a tachometer you can use to set your idle.
 
I have a trailtech computer, which I use to keep track of my hours and mileage. It also has other features like a clock, max speed, average speed, and of course current speed. I think this is more worth the money than a simple hourmeter. I think I spent around $70 for it on ebay.
 
It sounds like that is the better buy.

Does that one have a tach? I would imagine so, right?
 
It doesn't have a tach, but I never saw a digital tach that really worked right. They all have such a bad delay that you can only get an accurate reading if you're holding the rpm at a steady speed for a couple seconds.
 
I was thinking for setting idle, not for riding.

That's what ears and ***** are for! :cool:
