How many of you have changed you're gearing on you're warriors? Did you notice a big difference in top-end? What did you have done to you're bike to make up for some low-end? And what combination did you run?

I have the basic airbox/filter/full pipe setup and I want more top-end. Im thinking of going 14/30 (3-5mph+), but I dont know how much torque Ill loose, and I dont feel like only a few mph and know I could go more but Didnt. Id like to see another 10mph top-end out of it, but I dont want to loose a shitload of torque

yardsdale you keep beating a dead horse on this , look at the facts dude, the more top end you have the lest torque, with out respectively doing major engine mods..........you have to loose to gain......

I geared up to a 14 front, and any low end power I may have lost is not missed. I really couldn't notice much of a difference at all in the low end, these things are geared a little too low anyways.

^^Did you notice it on top-end yama-rider? Could you have gone a 14f/39 (or even 38 which would be just like going to a 15f) and still feel not a huge difference?

Yeah, I think a 15 front would be about the max with my current mods, while still keeping all the power usable. The taller gearing definitely was noticable on top end.

Ok, you say 15 would be your max, and you have quite a bit more power mods then me, so Im debating between a 14/39 or a 14/40 What would you do?

when i had my warrior i had geared it 14-40, with no lid, pipe, 22's in the rear and jetted. I didnt notice a loss in the lowend i did notice that the gears lasted a tad bit longer witch was nice.

If you're running 22" rears i'd say go with 14/40 as your max. Any more than that and you'll need a tailwind or a downhill slope to wind out 6th all the way.

I have either 18" or 20" GBC mudsharks, I always forget to check. But with that and my pipe I should be able to pull a 14-39 shouldn't I?

2 inches difference in rear tire is about the same as 1 tooth difference in the front sprocket. With 20's i'd go as far as saying you could pull a 15/40. Your tires are definitely 20's or bigger, nobody makes an 18" mud tire. Going to a 14/40 setup would just put you back to the way it was geared stock with the stock tires.

Ok I checked and you're right, they're 20"s. Now I dont know If I should just bring it to a 14front because people say they've beaten sportsmans stock so I assume stock tires alsowhich would be 62mph. I think that Ill go with the 14 to bring me back to my "stock" mph area and then go either a 38 or 39rear, I think a 15front is just a hare to much, because if I like the way it is "stock (14front with the 20's)" I dont want to go another 3-5mph that I wouldn't have needed. I think itll either be 14/38 or 39 youre opinion?

14/39 sounds perfect to me, it'll just put you a few mph above stock gearing, enough that you can take advantage of the little bit of power you gained from your mods, and won't be too tall that you'll slow down on the bottom end. Let us know how it works out once you get to try it.

I have a 15 up front and it is noticeably slower on take off for me and the top end is nice but really not nice enough when you compare the amount of trail riding grunt that you need when you get hung up on something stupid.

THE ONLY WAY TO FIND OUT IS TO EXPERIENCE IT FOR YOURSELF

What do you have done to youre quad for motor work? Technically im only going up 1-2 mph from the "stock" gearing/mph area. I have the smaller tires so im hoping it will balance out the 14front and I still cant decide if Im going 39 or 40.
