ok, ive had a problem with my clutch for a while. i pull my clutch lever in, and it just stays pulled in, it wont relese back out. and i put the quad in gear, and it just dies. i took my clutch apart, filed down the grooves on my clutch basket, they were pretty bad. but still nothing. im wondering why this is happening?. i think my clutc plates are also getting wore out. when i reinstalled the clutch , i didnt let the plates soak. so could bad/sticky plates cause my cable to not release? and not go into gear?

It could just be the cable itself? I had a couple of LT's when I was younger, and never had that problem.. But I would suggest try'n a new cable, and if that doesn't work maybe get a new clutch kit.

Oh.. And maybe check the condition of the return spring?

by clutch kit, do u mean just the clutch plates?

ok, and i had to geta new clutch bracket for it also, but its not threaded, so its kinda making it hard for my cable to stay tightly adjusted, is there a special bolt or someting i can buy for this?, i cant get a nut over the clutch cable

Hmmmm.. You know I can't really remember how the clutch is set up on them? It's been damn near 20 years since I last worked on one. But I would get a whole clutch kit, it should come with new springs, plates, and discs...

I also had a problem with the 350 in my quad before the swap, it was kinda doing the same thing you explained. It turned out it was just the cable sticking.. I replaced it, and everything was fine.

It could be that simple.
