4l80e is a bad bitch, and if the builder knows what they are doing, it can with stand a **** load of power. However, I would have used the allison. Although they prob had to use the 4l80e becuase the allison will not fit under that car without cutting out and modding the floor.

You are right about them coming stock with the 4l80e... If it were a 6.5l from 93-2000. This is a duramax. It only comes with an allison, or a 6 speed manual. That allison weighs a good 550lbs. I know, I've pulled a couple out for building.

Ah. Wasn't sure what years the Chevs had a Duramax, I just knew late 90's 6.5L diesel Chev's had the 4l80e so i'm sure they could be built to hold some decent power.

My knowledge of Chev diesels is limited, I'm more of a Ford guy when it comes to trucks.

Cummins nothing. Not a fan. They are a good engine and are very durable. But I worked for a company that used those dodges and I wasn't impressed. But, to each his own, I really don't feel like getting in a pissing match over and engine. The swap alone is cool though!

That's alot of power in that chintzy ass frame those poor lil trucks are notorious rust buckets in this area. It's a shame really, the engine on those lil things runs forever! I like those older Yotas much better than most new ones, although the new tundra is a bad mofo!

that one is a 80's. had good frames AND it's been built out the ass all the way around, up and down, and side to side for sad drags. The first two body styles of the tacomas are the best looking newer trucks
