Ya'll remember that z250 that i posted a few pics of it muddin, well me and my friend want to frankenstien that thing!
What we were planning on was putting my stock z400 shocks on the front, and another friends stock yfz shock on the rear. Now i know this sounds crazy, but anyone think we can pull it off?
I have done a little research and it seems possible to do the front shocks, but im worried about the yfz. Tomorrow we're gonna check everything out, like if my a-arms fit on his bke, so he could buy stock z a-arms, and make it easier to add the shocks on.

But anyone think the yfz shock would work, anything i need to know about that? I have plenty of tools available to me, and know how to use them so cutting and welding wont be a problem.

that would look ******* cool, a z250 with z400 shocks and a-arms and maybe an axle, would look badass

You might come across the same problem with the shock that the warriors have with yfz rear shocks. That piggyback reservoir sticks out just enough to be a pain in the ass and get in the way of the frame, airbox, and swingarm. Another thing i'd be really worried about with that is the fact that the yfz shock is going to be longer, and force the swingarm to extend at a higher angle (like the 660r shock on the warrior). That's not a real big deal with a chain drive because slack can be adjusted and rollers can be removed or relocated, but all the shaft drive has is a universal joint between the swinger and output shaft. Push a universal joint a little too far while it's spinning and it's not going to last long. I guess there still is a remote possibility of it working, but i'd be very cautious with it. Maybe there's a shorter shock that will work better than the stock 250 shock.

That's what i thougth would happen with that yfz shock, we're probably gonna split the bill on buying a stock z400 shock(after testing mines on his bike to see how much it stretches out). Basically we are trying to make his bike have higher ground clearance with cheap stock parts.
A stocl 400 axle wouldnt work on the 250 because its set up forchain drive right?

Na, the 400 axle won't work. The splines wouldn't match right, because of the massive differences in the rear end.

I don't think you'd be able to up the ground clearance that much since it has a solid rear axle. And that is what limits you. Other than putting on taller tires to get the axle off of the ground more, I can't see that many other ways to get more clearance.
