i am wanting to modify my warrior and i'm wonding if anyone out there can give me an idea how much they spent. i'm thinking about the cam & spring kit (http://alba.buyol.com/Item/WAR-CAMTISPRG.htm). i have no idea how much of difference in power between that and the stroker kit is, but i really cant afford the stroker mod. if anyone has the cam & spring kit done to theirs, how much did you spend on machine work and also labor, as far as putting back together.

If you have the thicker service book just rebuild the top end yourself, it's very simple on the warrior. While you add a cam and spring package you should bump up the compression a little with a new piston, they aren't that expensive at all. Here is a guesstimate of what you'll spend:

Cam - $100
Springs - $75
Piston - ~$150
Top end gasket kit - ~Less than 50
To bore out the cylinder - Less than a 100

While you have the motor apart you should just bore out the cylinder and add the piston so the motor is like new and with a bit more torque and power. It won't take long to save the few extra bucks. If you just add a cam it'll take a little of your low end off also without the piston. When I rebuilt the top end on mine it took less than 2hrs to tear it down, that goes to show how easy it is!!! You just want to make sure to keep the parts clean for reassembly.

Even if you do the work yourself a stroker will cost a 1000 or so figuring you have to buy a few tools and pay for all the parts without any discounts. To have someone do it for you you'll be looking at $1500 as a estimate. Paying the shop for motor rebuilding is expensive, learn how to do the top end, it's simple! ;D

boxhead,
this was the kit that i was looking at. i think it includes everything that you talked about................ Give your Warrior a kick in the pants with our .450" lift cam and Titanium spring kit! Our kit puts a few teeth into the Warrior's bite, and nearly doubles the stock motor's output when combined with our exhaust kit. Agressive riders will love it! Comes with all you need, including cam, Ti springs, JE race piston kit, and all seals and gaskets. Specify piston bore size.

That's the alba, you should go with a JE piston and a .430 lift cam. That kit is kind of expensive for what you get.

PLus alba doesn't even stock or warranty their stuff. I was just ordering and they sent me an email saying they had to order all the parts from other places and they would be responsible for everything....I cancelled and will buy direct elsewhere!!
