Mudlite tire question

I'm buying some mudlites tomorrow I can get 25 XL for 550 with type 5 rims shipped or should I go ahead and get the 26 XL for 50 bucks more. I been comparing weights and the 26 XL dont seem to be that much heavier than the 25 XL These are the weights I found from two different websites

well i guess my question is...do you have a clutch kit installed and or any other upgrades? i run 25's on mine right now....without a clutch kit and it is ok...but my 26's will be here this week and clutch kit is also now installed....and i have a pipe and jet kit.......if your stock i would stay with 25's....

I went with the 25 Mudlite XL 1 1/8 lug with Black Rattlesnake wheels $550 shipped. I will post pics when I get then installed. I got them from http://crossroadsyamaha.com Ask for Jason. He is a great guy. Made me a happy customer

Nice Upgrade,, I put the 25" XL's on 3 weeks ago.. i noticed a bit of a slow down as far as getting up to speed.. but far better then the stock tires for the snow.. and ya at less then 5mph it rides like a old tractor.

I know myself im going to order aftermarket rims and remount my stock tires once the mud is all gone, then back to the mudlites come winter..

looks good ....those were the wheels i could not make up my mind on....i was very close to buying them....

you will notice lots more traction in the mud.....i had mudlites before the zillas....there a nice tire.

I did notice one thing I dont like. The front wheel track width is 46 in outside to outside and the rear is 44 outside to outside. Looks like I need some spacers to make them the same. Now who makes a good spacer. What size shold I go?

highlifter has some quality spacers and some cheapos too

Do I want the front and rear the same witdh or the rear a little wider?

I usually like it a little wider in the back but atleast even will look good too.

That setup looks great, I have been contemplating a set of the 25" Mudlite XL as well, but on the type 7 wheels. I was up in the air on 25/26 debate, but I think with the 350, I will just go for a 25" this time around... Now the only question is get the rims too, or just the tires :?:

Well, I am going to update this on my end. I got the itch and pulled the trigger on tires and rims. I ended up going with 26" MudLite XL's on ITPSS112. I went with 26 because I will be putting in the Hotcam and high comp Wiseco in the near future. I chose the MudLite because they look like they will ride smoother than the Zilla

2 of them arrived this morning:

I can not wait to get it put back together and mount these things up.

More specs are that in an effort to save some weight, I got the 26x9x12 for the front and 26x10x12 for the rear instead of a 12" wide rear.

yea weight was a big issue for me too. That's why I went with snakes rather than any of the new ITP wheels The Itp weighs in and 9.5 lbs compared the the 8.5 on the snakes. But I still want a set of ITP type 5 that weigh 7.5 and will just paint them black to stay with the same look.

hmmm. That is a terrible point to bring up, I didn't even look into the weight of the rims :roll: My thought was aftermarket alloys are bound to be better than the stock steelies :lol:

It currently has 25" Cheng Shins on it, and seems to handle them pretty well with the stock rims, so I think the new setup will be perfect with the little upgrades in store.

Yea I called all the wheel companies out there and asked for the weights since I could find it online anywhere. Guess it goes back to my drag racing days 1 lb rotating weight is like adding 10 to the body I think is how it goes. So with 421cc instead of 455 cubic inches it going to make a difference that for sure. The whole reason I bought the Wolfy is cause it was small and light. Same with my 1964 455 powered GTO. The lightest A body car out there.
